A Night To Remember
The Aetna Foundation and ING ,Gold Level Sponsorships of Cityscapes 2008 ~ A Night in the Urban Garden, enabled Knox to successfully raise over $26,000 to strengthen the Hartford Community Gardens Program.
More than 150 guests were treated to fine cuisine and matchless ambiance while bidding on intriguing silent and live auction items donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals. John Motley, MotleyBeup Partner, showcased deft auctioneering prowess engaging each and every guest. The setting was the magnificent Elizabeth Park Pond House, transformed into a breathtaking urban garden with an awesome display of vegetables and flowers grown from seeds and tenderly nurtured by Ron Pitz, Nic Willard and the AmeriCorps Green Crew. Along with other props, these vegetables and flowers were fabulously arranged by Duane Luster (Knox Board Member) and his wife, Alice Luster.
Of the evening’s many highlights was, Hartford City Council Majority Leader, rJo Winch who represented Mayor Eddie Perez. “Let’s applaud the Knox Parks Foundation for its never ending dedication to ‘Keep America Beautiful’ by keeping our region beautiful,” stated Mayor Perez. Mayor Perez, through his statement continued, “I’d like to congratulate…Ken Kahn and Dr. Bob Painter for their tireless efforts to preserve, restore and showcase the natural beauty of our parks and our neighborhoods…” Dr. Bob Painter, former Hartford City Council Member and Ken Kahn, Greater Hartford Arts Council Executive Director were recipients of the Knox Parks Foundation “Green Star Award”.
